The house was built in the mid-1800's and is located within the City boundaries. Joppa and Portobello are distinct residential communities and developed as Edinburgh expanded. The area became a popular resort as cheaper travel enabled families to take the sea air. Donkey rides are no more but the peace remains.

We are only 3 miles from the centre of Edinburgh, Scotland's capital city, and have panoramic views across the Firth of Forth. Buses are frequent during the day and continue into the early hours.

Ardgarth

Ardgarth Guest House is a warm and comfortable family run Guest House, which is definitely 'all ages' friendly! The house has been tastefully adapted from a large Victorian family house with a variety of well proportioned rooms to suit family groups of up to five, or the independent single traveler.

We have two fully accessible rooms on the ground floor. We are very proud to have been awarded overall winner of the Leonard Cheshire award for business 2005 and were "runner-up" in the 1997 Thistle Awards in the Category "Tourism For All" Also in 1997 Scottish Enterprise awarded a Certificate for providing "Scotland's Best Service to each Visitor".

We have single, double, twin and family rooms, either en-suite or standard (with wash basins). The rooms are of generous size, clean, warm and comfortably furnished.

En-Suite Rooms all have private Shower and WC. Standard Rooms all have wash basins in the rooms, and there are two shared bathrooms fitted with showers and WCs. All rooms have TV and tea/coffee making facilities and hairdryers. Cots, high chairs and baby listening can be arranged.
